First Visit

  • Consultation

The first part of your visit to our office begins with a thorough history to identify the nature of your presenting problem. The Doctor will ask detailed questions regarding your past and present health in order to determine how we can best proceed in assessing your condition.

  • Examination

A thorough physical examination is conducted including vital signs, orthopedic and neurological screening, evaluations along with a complete Chiropractic, biomechanical and postural examination.

  • X-Ray Examination

When x-rays are necessary they are taken in our office. Both weight bearing and non-weight bearing views are compared. Motion stress views are often utilized to determine full or restricted joint mobility.

  • Report Of Findings

The patient is presented with a report of findings which combines the results of the history, consultation, examination and x-rays. The objective of the report is to answer 4 basic questions. What is the problem? Can we help? How long will it take? How much will it cost?

Phases of Care

  • Acute

In this stage of treatment the primary goal is pain and symptom relief. Our focus is to stabilize the spine, decrease nerve pinch and irritation while reducing the muscle spasm and inflammatory reactions that trigger the pain and other presenting symptoms.

  • Corrective

This stage of treatment is designed to correct the underlying cause of the problem, which was signaled by your pain and dysfunction, through rehabilitation of your spine, ligaments and muscles. This is a critical portion of your care plan. Correction of the structural problem permits the body to recover more fully, (not just covering up the symptoms) and provides for less pain and dysfunction in the future.

  • Maintenance & Wellness

The most important stage of care is often the most over looked. Routine spinal evaluations and adjustments help maintain the correction, allowing your healthy spine to assist the body to prevent disease naturally.

  • Prevention

Wellness care focuses more on the prevention of disease rather than trying to restore good health after you lose it. Patients are encouraged to bring in their family and friends for evaluation to help them begin the process of prevention before the disease appears.

Types of Treatment

  • Spinal Treatment

The primary treatment in Chiropractic is the spinal adjustment. The spinal adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation, is a gentle painless technique that lends itself well to the treatment of all patients from the very young to the very old. There are many different types of technique, and we will choose the approach that works best for each individual.

We offer Diversified Spinal Adjustments, Cox Distractive Decompression Technique, Activator and Low Impact Impulse Instrument Adjusting, Trigger Point, Myofacial Release and many other approaches. We make the effort to fit the treatment to the patient instead of trying a one size fits all, fitting the patient to the treatment.

  • Physical Modalities

We have at our disposal several different types of treatment modalities including: Electric muscle stimulation (Interferential, Premodulated, Russian Stim, Biphasic, Microcurrent, High Voltage Galvanic), Ultrasound, Ultrasound-Electric Stim Combo, ReBuilder Electric Stim, Traction, Intersegmental, Intermittent, Cryotherapy & Hot Moist Packs, Massage Therapy, Exercise Therapy, and Spinal Rehabilitation.

  • Acupuncture

We offer Acupuncture by needle, electronic stimulation, laser and pressure. We also offer Dry Needling.

  • Laser

We offer cold therapy laser with both class IIIB Microlight Laser and class IV K-Laser.

Insurance

  • Major Medical, PPO & HMO

The Doctors at Integrative Chiropractic & Acupuncture accept most Major Medical, PPO and HMO plans including Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Golden Rule, HealthKeepers, Mail Handlers, Medicare, United Health and most others. Your insurance plan can be verified by our office, so you can be informed prior to scheduling your first appointment if your plan will pay the appropriate medical benefits.

  • Motor Vehicle Accident

In the event you or your family is involved in a motor vehicle accident, the Medical-Pay portion of your car insurance may pay a portion or 100% of your medical treatment with Integrative Chiropractic and Acupuncture.

  • Work-Related Injury

In Virginia, if you are involved in an occupational injury at your place of work, your company is required by law to carry workers' compensation insurance to pay 100% for the evaluation and treatment of your injury and chiropractic treatment is covered under workers' compensation.
