Massage Therapist
Certified Massage Therapist Linda Johnson is beginning her twentieth year in the field. She loves working with massage clients using a comprehensive, therapeutic approach leading to relaxation and facillitated healing. Ms. Johnson's undergraduate degree is from the College of William and Mary (1978); she received her Master's of Social Work degree in 1996 from Virginia Commonwealth University. In the mid-nineties she participated in the successful efforts to have Virginia Massage Therapy Professionals certified by the Board of Nursing and has been a CMT since the inception of the commonwealth certification program. Ms. Johnson is very pleased to provide comprehensive massage services to patients and friends of the practice.
Since her graduation from the Virginia Institute of Massage Therapy in 1988, Ms. Johnson has completed a wide array of courses and workshops, including the following bodywork modalities: Swedish / Relaxation Massage, Clinical Massage Therapy Techniques, Deep Tissue & Trigger Point Therapy, Advanced Injury Treatment, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, Ayurvedic Bodywork, Therapeutic Touch, and Seated Massage. She has received specialized training and worked with a variety of maladies, including plantar fascitis, multiple sclerosis, and cancer. She also has provided extensive bodywork to individuals struggling with arthritis, headaches, sciatica, fibromyalgia, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and grief / loss issues.
Ms. Johnson's approach to cooperative healing of the whole person has involved years of interest and participation in the body-mind field (including work in hypnotherapy, meditation, yoga therapy, Continuum, and bodywork for survivors of sexual abuse). She has experience in pregnancy massage, infant massage, and end-of-life care.
Ms. Johnson finds satisfaction and joy in providing relief for tight muscles. She feels truly blessed to customize each treatment session in order to address individual needs of the whole person. She appreciates the opportunity to continue this work during her association with Dr. Quinn and Dr. Hundley at Integrative Chiropractic & Acupuncture.
